What Happens After You Submit Your Measurements?

Rebels Market Editorial  |  Reading time: about 5 minutes
Fit process

An automated check flags anything that looks off as soon as you submit. Then a fit specialist reviews every submission and either approves it or contacts you. Once it is approved, the workshop starts from a standard last, adjusts it where your measurements fall outside it, builds each shoe to its own foot if your feet differ, and makes your order in 10 business days.

Here is what happens to your measurements, step by step, from the moment you submit them to the day production starts.

1. We compare the information with the selected size

Your ordered size is the starting point. As soon as you submit, an automated check compares your foot length and ball girth with that size and flags anything that looks inconsistent, such as a length that points to a different size or a number that looks like a typo. If something looks off, the check tells you right away, so you can measure again and correct it.

2. We look for left-to-right differences

The form asks whether your feet are the same. If you say they are different, you give a length, a ball girth, and a tracing for each foot, and the workshop builds each shoe to its own foot. You don't have to size both shoes up to fit the larger foot, and the smaller foot doesn't end up loose. If your feet are the same, one set of measurements covers both.

3. We look at more than length

For shoes, we ask for foot length, ball girth, and a foot tracing. Ball girth is the distance around the widest part of your foot. It tells us more than a width letter, because it captures the height of the foot as well as its width: two feet with the same flat width can need very different room. The tracing shows your foot's outline, including toe shape and where the foot is widest. Boots add calf circumference (for each leg if your legs differ) and boot height, so the shaft fits your leg as well as the shoe fits your foot. Measure in the evening, standing, in the socks you plan to wear. Feet are largest at the end of the day.

4. The workshop receives usable production information

Your measurements go to the workshop as a work order, not as a raw form. It lists the size, your measurements (per foot if your feet differ), the adjustments needed, and your leather, color, and other choices. The workshop starts from a standard last and adjusts it where your measurements fall outside it. There is no personal last stored for each customer. The adjustments are made for each order.

5. Production starts after the fit step is complete

Production doesn't start until a fit specialist has reviewed your measurements. They either approve them or contact you to sort out anything that looks off. Once your fit is approved, the workshop makes your order in 10 business days, and then it ships. We would rather catch a fit problem now than have you discover it after delivery.

What if I don't send measurements?

After you order, we send you a simple guide to take and submit your measurements, followed by 3 reminders. If we don't hear back after the third reminder, production goes ahead in the standard size you ordered. You can also choose to keep your ordered size instead of measuring. Either way, the order is made in the size you selected, so it is not adjusted to your feet, and a fit difference is not treated as a defect. Workmanship and materials are still covered. That is why we encourage everyone to measure.

Can I change my measurements after I submit?

Yes. You can edit your measurements until production starts. If you measure again and get a different number, update it before then. Once production starts, the measurements can't be changed.

Your measurements change what gets made

They decide your size, the adjustments to the last, and whether each shoe is built to its own foot. If you're still unsure what your size number does and doesn't tell us, start here.

How Rebels Market works

Choose the style. Send your measurements. Then we make it.

We don't pull a finished pair or jacket from a shelf. Your order starts with the design you choose. Then you send your measurements, or keep the size you ordered, and a fit specialist reviews them before production starts.

2. Measure

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my measurements actually used when I order made-to-fit boots or shoes?

Yes. An automated check compares them with your ordered size as soon as you submit, and a fit specialist reviews every submission before production. The workshop then adjusts a standard last where your measurements fall outside it. If your feet differ, each shoe is built to its own foot.

What if the size I picked does not match my measurements?

The automated check flags it right away so you can measure again. A fit specialist then reviews your submission. If something still looks off, they contact you to sort it out before anything is made.

Do you measure both feet separately?

Only if they are different. The form asks whether your feet are the same. If you say no, you give a length, a ball girth, and a tracing for each foot, and each shoe is built to its own foot.

Can measurements help if shoes are usually tight even in the right length?

Yes. Tightness at the right length usually comes from girth, not length. Ball girth measures around the widest part of the foot, so it shows when a foot needs more room across or over the top even though the length is right.

Do you need different measurements for boots than for shoes?

Yes. Boots use the same foot measurements plus calf circumference and boot height, so the shaft is built to your leg as well as your foot. If your legs differ, you give a calf measurement for each.

What information does the workshop use to make my order?

A work order with your size, your measurements (per foot if your feet differ), the adjustments needed, and your leather, color, and other choices. The workshop starts from a standard last and adjusts it to those measurements.

Will my order be made before I submit my fit information?

No. We hold your order for your measurements and send 3 reminders. If we still don't hear back, production goes ahead in the size you ordered. You can edit your measurements until production starts.
